government, Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydro
Power (HRC) was established in 1981.
The mission of HRC is to promote development
of small hydro power (SHP) by conducting training, R+D,
consultation, design and information dissemination etc
for the developing countries.
Under the Center, there are
6 divisions, i.e. HRC Secretariat, Administrative Office,
New Technology R+D Division for Medium & Small Hydro,
Planning & Design Institute for Medium & Small
Hydro, Yatai Construction Supervision Consultation Co
Ltd and HRC Service Center...

| HRC was established
under the joint sponsorship of Chinese government and
the United Nations organizations UNDP/UNIDO in early 1980's.
It has been successfully operating for 20 years. Entrusted
by Chinese Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of
Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation, the Ministry
of Science & Technology, UNDP, UNIDO, ILO, FAO etc.,
HRC has successfully hosted many international meetings
and 49 SHP training workshops with nearly 900 participants
from over 100 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America,
East Europe and Oceania, covering SHP planning, feasibility
study, low-cost SHP civil works, hydrology, SHP plant
operation & maintenance, and water turbine pump, etc.
The following table is a list of the SHP training workshops
held by HRC. International training workshops have been
held both in China and abroad. HRC specialists have been
invited to deliver lectures in Brazil, India,Nepal,Turkey
and Greece, etc. and were enthusiastically welcomed...

Planning & Design Institute for Medium & Small
Hydro Power is a technical-intensive enterprise integrating
SHP design, research, consultancy and equipment supply.
It is mainly engaged in water resources & hydropower
project planning, design, electro-mechanical equipment
completing, technical rehabilitation and consultation
on bids invitation and management etc. The Institute employs
a core of high-level professionals (i.e. 62 in total,
of which 3 are professor-rank senior engineers, 26 senior

(hereinafter called R&D Center), one of the major
technical sections in the National Research Institute
for Rural Electrification under the Ministry of Water
Resources (MWR), is mainly committed to the research and
development of new technology for medium&small hydropower
both at home and abroad. To meet the demands of market
economy development, an independent legal entity, Yatai
Hydro Equipment Completing Co. Ltd., Hangzhou (hereinafter
called Completing Co.) is established in the R&D Center.
Combing scientific research, engineering and commercial
activity together and equipped with a laboratory &
equipment test center of 1000 odd sq. m., the Completing
Co. aims to apply the advanced, reliable and cost-effective
R&D products in various medium/small hydropower projects
