Seminar on Power Management and Interconnection Technology for Belt and Road Countries Successfully Held

---From April 6th to April 19th, 2023, the Seminar on Power Management and Interconnection Technology for Belt and Road Countries sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydro Power (HRC) was successfully held online. This is the 151st international training/seminar undertaken by HRC. A total of 46 government officials, technical experts and business representatives from 11 countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Laos, Mozambique, Nepal, Rwanda, Uzbekistan, Zambia and Zimbabwe participated in the seminar. A wide variety of activities such as technical lectures, online visits and specialized exchanges on such topics as energy exploitation, power transmission technology, smart grid were carried out.


Ms. Shu Jing, Deputy Director-General of HRC, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony during which she congratulated the participants on behalf of the organizer, and made a comprehensive summary on the implementation of the seminar. She stated that HRC cherished the sincere friendship with all participants, and that participants’ appreciation for the seminar and recognition of our work gave us greatest encouragements. We will stay committed to international exchanges and cooperation in the field of power and energy sector.

Mr. Dona Souliyathai, Deputy Director of the Energy Management Department of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos, delivered a speech on behalf of all participants, in which he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Water Resources of China and HRC for their efforts in sponsoring and organizing the training program. He said that this seminar provided the participating countries with very useful knowledge and experience, enabling them to better deal with the technical and management challenges faced by their domestic energy and power sector.

During the seminar, participants from various countries made special reports on the energy sectors and power systems in their own countries, exchanged in-depth their development status, problems and challenges, and potentials for cooperation, laying the foundation for future pragmatic cooperation.(2023-05-05)
