---During May 7-8, 2019, participants of Training Course on Small Hydropower Technology for Lancang-Mekong Countries attended the International Symposium on Greening and Upgrading Small Hydropower for Eco-environment Restoration which was co-organized by HRC and Lishui Municipal Government. Experts from China, Sweden, Austria, Italy, etc. delivered speeches on topics including Regulatory Framework and Green Standards on SHP, Environmental Mitigation and Upgrading for SHP, and Strategic Tools for Balancing Multiple Goals/Interests in the symposium, and all the trainees actively participated in discussions. They also visited Dayang Reservoir, Panxi First-cascade Hydropower Station, and an ecologically restored river system in Jinyun County.
Mr. Ekapong Gatethong, a participant from Thailand, was interviewed by LSTV at the symposium. He was quoted as saying that small hydropower development in China takes the lead in the world, and he was greatly honored to join this symposium. Besides, the symposium shared the latest technology, ideas and practices of China and European countries in green small hydropower field from which they could learn a lot.
Research findings and cooperation achievements between China and Europe were also shared in the symposium to promote the sustainable development of green hydropower in the five countries along Lancang-Mekong River.(2019-05-20)
