---Entrusted by the Chinese Ministry
of Commerce and organized by National Research Institute
for Rural Electrification (NRIRE), also known as Hangzhou
Regional Center for Small Hydropower (HRC), 2009 TCDC
Training Workshop on Small Hydropower for Africa commenced
on October 15 in Hangzhou. Present at the opening ceremony
are the sixteen participants in the field of energy and
hydropower from African countries such as Togo, Burundi,
Gabon and Algeria,etc. Due to alterations of flights or
other reasons, several participants are still on their
way to HRC.
Director of HRC Ms Cheng Xialei gave
an address on behalf of HRC. She expressed her vision
that with this international training workshop on SHP
as the platform, the experience on SHP construction would
be shared among international participants and the SHP
industry in the developing countries can be greatly promoted.
She hoped that this training workshop serve as an opportunity
to deepen international cooperation and consolidate friendship.
The Honorary Director of HRC Mr Zhu
Xiaozhang gave a brief introduction to the developing
course of SHP technology in China and expressed his best
wishes and sincere inspiration to the participants.
The participant from Burundi Cyprien
gave a speech on behalf of all the participants. He conveyed
his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for
their kindness and friendliness and his thankfulness to
HRC for organizing this training workshop. Representing
all the participants, he also mentioned some topics concerning
SHP skills and techniques which they are eager to learn.
It is estimated that 33 participants
from 14 countries in Africa would attend this 42-day training
